"Since 95% of people are imitators, and only 5% are initiators, people are persuaded more by the actions of others than by any proof we can offer." (Cavett Roberts)

"Mr. Lee has demonstrated determination and dedication to academics and research. For example, in my course, Mr. Lee excelled as he demonstrated a true understanding of the theoretical foundations and practical applications of the field. In this course, I assign students a semester-long project where they are required through a series of deliverables, to analyze a city including its budget, political and financial organization, and financial policies and stability. This project requires an understanding of the theoretical and practical foundations of public finance, a working and improving knowledge of Excel, and proficient communication skills. Mr. Lee’s progress in class and with the project was outstanding.
As my graduate assistant, Mr. Lee has collaborated with me on a variety of research projects including the stability of public pension programs in the United States. His work as a graduate assistant highlighted his abilities to conduct research, analyze data, and solve problems. His communication skills are excellent, focused and organized, critical in thought and considerate in approach. He contributes positively in and outside of the classroom. Overall, Mr. Lee possesses a fascinating combination of talents and characteristics. He is an excellent student, researcher, and worker. He is highly motivated and industrious"
- Donijo Robbins, PhD, Professor of Public Finance, GVSU
"During his time with me, he fully participated in training, exercises, planning and response and has been one of the best interns I have had to date based on his enthusiasm, willing to learn, and work ethic.
Mr. Lee took advantage of every opportunity to learn about the emergency management field while at the Kenty County Health Department. During his time here he took over 30 different courses on subjects including Basic and Advanced Disaster Life Support(BDLS, ADLS), ICS, Continuity of Operations, and Volunteer Management. He also took the initiative to become a certified BDLS and ADLS instructor before the end of his internship. Additionally, he participated in several exercises including a Radiological Injury Treatment Network (RITN) tabletop, a mass casualty full scale at a local hospital, and a multi-county special pathogens transportation full-scale.
Beyond the experiences he had in training and exercises, Mr.Lee worked on a number of projects. At the time we were required to utilize CDC's IMATS tool for inventory management and he developed a training module on this program. Additionally, he helped us assess our continuity of operations planning by using the Continuity Assessment Tool. The start of this project led directly into the use of our COOP plan during the pandemic.
Mr.Lee was well respected in the Kent County Health Department and in our preparedness community. I am excited that he decided to pursue a career of emergency management and absolutely believe he will be an asset to our profession."
" Han Gul Lee has been an integral part of Korean connection as a board member/director since 2018 in helping us to achieve our goal. (...) Han Gul Lee is an intelligent individual. He brings that knowledge to everything he does along with a respectful and humble demeanor. Han Gul also has an energy and enthusiasm that has sustained him in every task he has assumed for Korean Connection. We could always count on Han Gul to not only follow through, but to do so with accuracy and creativity.
Han Gul will be sorely missed by Korean Connection, but we know he will succeed in everything he chooses as his next life goal."
-Constance Busser, President, Korean Connection
"I have been positively impressed with Han Gul in many ways. First, I admire his curiosity and willingness to learn. Han Gul has a hunger for knowledge and experience, and he was not shy about asking questions to ensure that he understood concepts clearly. Han Gul is very attentive and observant, and he can pick out inconsistencies and exceptions, and he makes sure to understand the principles that – rightly or wrongly – lead to such things. He has strong critical thinking skills and works to understand not just processes but also the larger structure and strategies that they serve.
Han Gul's work ethic is very strong, and the quality of his work is high. On every project that we assigned him, Han Gul completed the work more quickly than the time allotted, and he was diligent about marking areas of uncertainty to ask follow-up questions for clarification and guidance. Han Gul brought humility and good humor to every task, and he was friendly with everyone in the unit and the larger department. Han Gul has been a fantastic team member this summer, and I can highly recommend him for any endeavor that requires focused intelligence, critical thinking skills, high energy, and a pleasant, friendly personality."

"I have known him for almost three years. He took three courses I instructed, Management Information Systems, Internet Business and ICT Applications and Issues. He was an excellent student in all three classes. He was always prepared well in all classes and actively participated in class discussions. I assigned group presentations for case studies in all classes I taught. Mr. Lee always led his group members in preparing for presentations and his presentations were very well prepared and presented all the time. I think he also works well with other students with different backgrounds. In all my classes, about half of students were from different countries, like France, Germany, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, China, etc., as exchange students. His English ability is very good so that he will not have any problem in studying in your graduate program. He is also very mature and respects others.
Overall, he is a student belongs to the top 1% of all the students I have ever taught. He is a really exceptional student. I have no doubt that he will be a successful student in your graduate program. "

"Mr.Lee is a bright and capable young man with an excellent command of the English language. I have known Mr.Lee for one semester, as he has been auditing two of my classes at Yeungnam University Law School. The classes he has audited, American Criminal Procedure and American Constitutional Law II are both completely taught in English and are attended by first and second year law students.
As you are probably aware, Mr. Lee is just finishing his undergraudate degree, but approached me in the beginning of the semester with an interest in taking some of my law classes. He wanted to better understand the criminal justice system, constitutional law issues and to further his studies in legal language. Although his major was business, Mr. Lee has genuine interest in the legal system and this interest allowed him to keep up with our law student in their studies. (...) In summation, I believe you will not find another candidate as bright, motivated and capable as Mr. Han Gul Lee."
